Edward Quist, a pillar of NYC's underground video art scene known for collaborations with Finnish techno legends Pan Sonic, presents his new film, The Black Vertebrate. Quist, working under his embryoroom alias, mediates between raw perception and objective cognition via experimental narrative, pulsating scan-rate imagery, analog electronics, biomorphic imagery, and heavily manipulated digital graphics.

Quist has exhibited and performed globally including Ikon Gallery (Birmingham), Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), Sónar Festival (Barcelona), Avanto Festival (Helsinki), Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, Dissonanze festival (Rome), Tampere Film Festival, MoMA PS1 (New York), The Milan Film Festival, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art (Helsinki), Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci (Milan), Cine Cosmos (Buenos Aires), Museo del Fumetto di Milano, Parco Sempione / Castello Sforzesco (Milan), The Envoy Gallery (New York), The Eventi (New York), The Gershwin Hotel (New York) & Iknost (Malmö).
